Square D and Schneider Electric — the QED switchboard line

Square D, part of Schneider Electric, has set the benchmark for low-voltage switchboards in North America for decades. The flagship QED-2 and QED-3 Power-Style switchboards are specified by consulting engineers across commercial, institutional, and industrial projects because of their I-Line group-mounted construction, modular bus design, and broad breaker compatibility.

QED switchboards are built for service entrance and distribution duty up to 600 Vac and 250 Vdc. Single mains are available up to 5000A, six subdivision mains up to 4000A, and individual feeders up to 4000A. Horizontal bus is rated to 5000A maximum with vertical bus to 3000A. UL listed and ETL certified, every QED unit ships with manufacturer documentation suitable for AHJ submission.

1600A Square D switchboards

The 1600A QED-2 switchboard is the workhorse for mid-size commercial buildings, schools, and light industrial facilities. Typically configured with a 1600A main breaker (PowerPact P-frame or Masterpact NT) feeding group-mounted distribution sections with I-Line plug-on branch breakers. Available in 480Y/277V, 208Y/120V, and 240V three-phase configurations.

2000A Square D switchboards

2000A QED switchboards suit larger commercial properties, mid-size hospitals, and manufacturing facilities. Two 2000A breakers can be mounted in a single section, making this rating efficient for double-ended service entrance designs with main-tie-main configurations. Masterpact NW frames are standard at this rating.

2500A Square D switchboards

2500A configurations are common in service entrance switchboards for large institutional and industrial sites. Square D limits each section to one breaker at 2500A and above, so layout planning matters. We stock both indoor NEMA Type 1 and outdoor NEMA Type 3R enclosures at this rating.

3000A Square D switchboards

The 3000A QED-2 switchboard is heavily used in data centre and large healthcare service entrance applications. PowerLogic circuit monitors and Micrologic trip units with zone-selective interlocking are typical specifications at this rating. Three-thousand-amp units are configured with Masterpact NW breakers and 3000A vertical bus.

4000A Square D switchboards

At 4000A, QED switchboards serve the largest commercial campuses, hyperscale data centres, and heavy industrial mains. Bolt-Loc fusible switches are available up to 4000A, and Masterpact NW frames cover this rating with full ground fault protection. Sections are typically wider (42, 48, or 54 inches) to handle bus bracing and cable termination.
