Meter Equipment — Emergency Build & Same-Day Stock

When a utility inspector flags your service entrance, when a CT cabinet arrives damaged on site, or when a meter main fails the day before a tenant moves in, you do not have 20 weeks to wait on a factory order. We stock and build commercial and industrial meter equipment for the projects that cannot afford a hold, with most assemblies ready to ship inside 24 to 48 hours.

Our inventory covers utility-spec meter sockets, meter mains, current transformer cabinets, meter-main combinations, and multi-meter stacks across the major utility-approved brands. Whether you are wiring a commercial service entrance for SoCal Edison, a multi-tenant building under PG&E rules, or an industrial site that needs to pass ConEd or Duke inspection, we have the equipment in stock or we will build it to your specification.

What Meter Equipment We Carry

Commercial and industrial meter equipment is the gear that sits at the service entrance and lets the utility measure revenue power. The category covers more than just a single meter socket. Real commercial jobs need:

  • Meter sockets — Single-position 4-jaw and 5-jaw sockets, ring and ringless, lever bypass and plunger bypass, 100A through 400A self-contained.
  • Meter mains — Combination meter and main breaker units that act as service equipment in one enclosure, typically 200A to 800A, single phase and three phase.
  • CT cabinets — Current transformer enclosures for services above the self-contained threshold (above 200A on EUSERC services at 480V, above 400A elsewhere), built to ANSI C12.11.
  • Meter-main combinations — Pre-assembled CT cabinet plus meter socket plus main disconnect, the configuration most utilities prefer for 800A to 4000A commercial services.
  • Multi-meter stacks — Square D EZ Meter-Pak, Siemens Uni-PAK, Eaton meter packs and meter modules, Milbank multi-position units. Two-gang through six-gang configurations for strip malls, office complexes, apartment buildings, and industrial parks.
  • TT, MS, and MMSS rated assemblies — Test-switch, meter-socket, and meter-main-socket-section units rated for utility revenue metering.

Brands We Stock

Every utility has its own approved equipment list, and the wrong manufacturer means a failed inspection and a torn-out service. We carry the brands the utilities actually accept:

  • Square D (Schneider Electric) — EZ Meter-Pak meter centers, EZM-series main units, individual meter sockets. The default for most West Coast utility services.
  • Siemens — Uni-PAK multi-position metering, WEP and WPL series, individual sockets. Strong fit for EUSERC-compliant jobs.
  • Eaton — Series M, Meter Modules, B-Line CT metering enclosures, commercial safety sockets, commercial meter stacks. Utility-approved across most major power companies.
  • Milbank — The industrial favorite for CT cabinets and heavy-duty meter sockets. U4490-XL lever bypass, U4468XT 400A 3-phase CT cabinets, transocket configurations, and ringless sockets to UL, ANSI, and NEC standards.
  • Durham — Specialty meter enclosures and CT cabinets for jobs where a custom build is faster than waiting on a major-brand backorder.
  • GE — Legacy and current production meter equipment for jobs matching existing GE switchgear.

Built To Your Utility Spec

Meter equipment is one of the few product categories where the utility, not the customer, dictates exactly what gets installed. SoCal Edison requires EUSERC-compliant assemblies. PG&E has its own approved manufacturer list. ConEd, Duke, Florida Power & Light, Xcel, and the rest each publish their own service equipment standards. We pull the right utility spec before we ship and confirm the assembly matches.

For services that need a custom build — a non-standard amp rating, a specific jaw configuration, a CT cabinet sized for a particular short-circuit duty — we fabricate to spec. Our shop can turn an MMSS meter-main combination in days, not the 20-plus weeks the major manufacturers quote for new factory orders during peak season.

Amp Ratings From 200A To 4000A

We carry the full commercial and industrial range:

  • 200A – 400A — Self-contained meter sockets and small meter mains. Strip malls, light commercial, small multi-tenant.
  • 400A – 800A — CT cabinets become required at this range on most utility systems. Meter-main combinations standard.
  • 1000A – 2000A — Industrial service entrances, larger multi-tenant commercial, light manufacturing. Almost always CT metered.
  • 2500A – 4000A — Heavy industrial, data centers, large multi-tenant commercial. Custom CT cabinet builds with full test switch and bypass provisions.

Voltage classes we handle: 120/208V, 120/240V, 277/480V, and full 480V three-phase service. Ring type and ringless covers. Overhead and underground feed.

Why VBR For Meter Equipment

The reason contractors call us is straightforward. When a major manufacturer quotes 20-plus weeks on a meter main or a CT cabinet and the inspector is back on site Monday, we ship from stock or build inside 24-48 hour turnaround when manufacturer lead times are 20+ weeks. We hold inventory across Square D, Siemens, Eaton, Milbank, Durham, and GE specifically because emergency commercial jobs do not give you the option to wait.

We also ship nationwide. A meter socket pulled from our warehouse today reaches most of the continental US inside two business days. CT cabinets and custom meter-main combinations ship as soon as the build is finished and quality-checked.

Request A Quote

Send us your utility spec, your amp rating, your voltage and phase, and the brand the inspector is going to expect to see. We will quote in-stock pricing if we have it on the shelf, or quote the build lead time if it needs to be fabricated. Either way, you get a real answer the same day and a real delivery date you can plan the rest of the install around.

Request a quote or call us with the spec sheet in hand — the faster we see the utility requirement, the faster the equipment ships.
